About the Breed

Alaskan Klee Kais are known to be intelligent, loyal, sweet, and affectionate to their family and friends. They are extremely energetic and love regular exercise and walks.
The Alaskan Klee Kai breed falls into the Spitz category, with a curled over tail, erect ears, and dark shining eyes. There are three coat colors that are recognized by the breed standards. Red and white, black and white, and gray and white. They have a double coat which speaks to their northern heritage, and even though the Klee Kai sheds quite a bit, the breed is known for keeping clean. They do not tend to have a typical dog smell or dog breath and rarely require bathing.

Origin
The Alaskan Klee Kai was developed in Alaska in early 1970, to create a companion dog that resembled the Alaskan Husky. The words “Klee Kai” originates from the Inuit words for “Small Dog”. Even to this day, it is still listed by various organizations as a rare breed.
